Andrew Rowe of Balaklava is the worthy winner of the January 2013 'Fencing Contractor of the Quarter'. Andrew has been fencing on and off for the past 30 years, before starting his own contracting business in 2004. For the last two years, he has been using predominately Southern Wire materials and when asked to comment on his experience, his brief summary is, “All good!”
Andrew usually manages a four man team which includes himself, his son Ben and two others, Matthew Gates and Nathan Greenshields. His wife Cathy is usually working hard behind the scenes on administration and accounts, but she is always willing to help out on the ‘fence-line’ when required. They operate mainly in the mid North and northern Yorke Peninsula regions of South Australia, although they have also completed 50km fencing in the pastoral area west of Iron Knob, in the Gawler Ranges.
In addition to the rural fencing, Andrew Rowe - Fencing Contractors also install a significant quantity of chain-wire security fencing and tennis court fencing. Andrew estimates he has put up over 100 kilometres of Southern Wire fencing now, with the FarmFence being the pre-fabricated fence of his choice and the new Reel-Easy being his preferred plain wire. He believes the FarmFence is without comparison in the market for both price and quality, while the new Reel-Easy is a revelation. Andrew says “he can now run out plain wire very quickly without it tangling or developing a birds-nest” meaning more productivity for their operation and less headaches.
They have recently taken delivery of the all-new Quick Fencer machine (featured in the video on our website) which he expects to revolutionise the way fences are installed and position their company at the forefront of the fencing industry Australia wide.
With two large projects ahead for 16 kilometres and 10 kilometres of fencing, Andrew has a busy summer in front of him, but we trust he will be able to relax and try the new Weber Baby-Q he has won as Southern Wires ‘Contractor of the Quarter’ for January 2013.
